He can therefore both:</p> <ul> <li> <p><strong>officially assess</strong> any foreigner wishing to obtain a diploma certification in French as a foreign language (which he has done by being a jury, examiner and corrector of DELF / DALF sessions several times, for the Alliance Française in particular),</p> </li> <li> <p>and through its education in Language Didactics and Training Engineering, deliver to any establishment that so wishes, <strong>extensive expertise</strong> in the field of assessment and overhaul of the offer and course content adapted to the CEFR ( Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).</p> </li> </ul> <p>Finally, Olivier Crépellière believes in <strong>a new approach to language teaching</strong> through the arts and culture, which allows both to escape their instrumentalization by avoiding exclusively disciplinary approaches. but also to move to a logic of « appropriation » and not simply of « acquisition », since:</p> <p><em>"Like long echoes that intermingle from afar<br /> (...)<br /> The perfumes, the colors and the sounds respond." *</em></p> <p>* (1) Baudelaire, C., <em>Correspondences</em>, in <em>The Flowers of Evil</em>, librairie générale, 18</p> </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-cv field-type-file field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><span class="file"><img class="file-icon" alt="PDF icon" title="application/pdf" src="/modules/file/icons/application-pdf.png" /> <a href="/sites/default/files/profile/cv/Resume%20Olivier%20Crepelliere%20-%20Spring%2025.pdf" type="application/pdf; length=101629">Resume Olivier Crepelliere - Spring 25.pdf</a></span></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-education field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p><strong>2009 - Sorbonne Nouvelle University – Paris 3</strong></p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree in Didactics of French and Languages</li> <li>Training Engineering for Teaching French as a Foreign Language and Languages</li> <li>Memoir: « For a Change in the Teaching and Learning Practices of French as a Foreign Language Through the Arts »</li> </ul> <p><strong>2007 - Paul Valéry University – Montpellier III</strong></p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree in Teaching of French As a Foreign Language</li> <li>Professional Practices in French as a Non-Mother Tongue</li> <li>Memoir: « Cinema and French as a Foreign Language:“Freedoms are not given, they are taken!" After working for different institutions in Thailand and France, he taught summer courses for graduate students at the French Petroleum Institute (IFP School) and contributed to the edition of digital resources in scientific French, specifically designed for the oil industry. Having served as a primary school teacher for five years, he finally joined The American University of Paris in 2008 to design a new French course for graduate students. He has taught since then all levels of French and co-designed a new introductory course on French culture.</p> <p>He draws the core ideas of his instructional philosophy from his own experience as a learner and a teacher: learning a foreign language means much more than deciphering new signs and being able to communicate. It challenges perspectives, expands social and intellectual capacities and enables the learners, if they feel secure and confident, to attain new goals.</p> </div></div></div><div class="field He has also taught French as a foreign language in educational institutions such as ACCORD, a French language school, and at ESLCA, the Parisian business school.<br /><br />Since he joined the University he has taught a variety of French courses at different levels including classes on the history of Parisian cafés and the famous Parisian department stores, and how to create a French newspaper on the internet. Since 1998 Attal has been a member of the SACEM (society of lyricists and music composers) and has collaborated on a script for the cinema based on a famous French detective novel. He is convinced that various materials such as songs, films, or strip cartoons can be very effective in the language learning process. In December 2010, Attal created a French <a href="http://auparisjournal.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">blog</a> for the department, where students and teachers can exchange and communicate their interests about Parisian life and French culture in general. Attal is also involved in the French Writing Lab which is a weekly workshop that helps students improve their writing skills in advanced French.</p></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-conferences field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-education field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><ul><li>Licence, Maîtrise, DEA Lettres Modernes, Université de Paris III-Sorbonne Nouvelle</li></ul></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-news field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-publications field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-research field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-picture field-type-image field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><img src="/sites/default/files/profile/picture/fattal.png" width="300" height="200" alt="" /></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-departments field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-inline clearfix"><div class="field-label">Department(s):&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">French Studies and Modern Languages</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-type field-type-list-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Faculty Type:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Faculty Member</div></div></div> Tue, 20 May 2025 06:30:01 +0000 Consulting Advency 2263 at Franck Andrianarivo Rakotobe /profile/fandriana <div class="field field-name-field-faculty-netid field-type-text field-label-inline clearfix"><div class="field-label">NetID:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">fandriana</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-firstname field-type-text field-label-inline clearfix"><div class="field-label">First Name:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Franck</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-lastname field-type-text field-label-inline clearfix"><div class="field-label">Last Name:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Andrianarivo Rakotobe</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-website field-type-link-field field-label-inline clearfix"><div class="field-label">Personal Website:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-social-networks field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-office field-type-text field-label-inline clearfix"><div class="field-label">Office:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-office-hours field-type-text-long field-label-inline clearfix"><div class="field-label">Office Hours:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-position field-type-text field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Assistant Professor</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-faculty-biography field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Professor Andrianarivo Rakotobe joined the American University of Paris from Emory University where he received his PhD in French in 2021. Using a minor transnational approach to connect these islands with a shared history of transoceanic migration, he analyzes stories of unburials in contemporary fictions, poetry, bande dessinée, and films, in which authors exhume the bodies of insurgents, revolutionaries, slaves, and maroons from the desecrated tombs of oblivion so as to transfer their remains into a new, textually constructed burial site.
